TRANSLATOR SPACE
PROJECT

Harnessing the input of many and
turning it into a benefit for all!

Harnessing the input of many and turning it into a benefit for all!

The give-back of a handful of professionals

ORIGIN – The TranslatorSpace project is the result of the initiative of a group of professionals who wanted to try to merge the experiences gained in different areas of the industry (in particular, translation, project management, language lead, LSP/MLSP management, recruiting and resource management) in an attempt to address the Problems and build Solutions to mitigate the risks – old and new – that threaten this wonderful profession.

ROUTE See below timeline for an outline of the project path. The promoters have already begun to work on the analysis of the problems, the search for possible solutions and the preparation of an environment in which the results of this en-masse brainstorming can be made concrete. Every single step of the future path will be the result of theideas and vision contributed by those who want to be part of this community. In the current phase we are focusing on gathering experiences, needs and solutions that – once drawn up – will determine the direction of future work.

To know the results of this online consultation and to receive updates on the development of the project, do not forget to complete the contact form and leave your email on the Way Out page and to follow the project on Facebook.

GOAL – This project was created to enact progress that is finally “human and professional”, in an industry that has been beset by challenges from so many technological advance. Specifically, the project aims to create a solution by which:

  • Translators will be able to better monetize the value they produce throughout their careers and derive greater fulfillment from it.
  • Clients will be more easily able to identify and benefit from the value offered by individual professionals.
  • Translation will gain greater depth and consideration in the social, professional and economic sphere.

Here are all the stages of the TranslatorSpace project:

April 2017
Birth of the promoter group
Nascita del gruppo promotore
It all started by chance...A group of professionals working in various roles in the translation industry began to take seriously yet another casual discussion about the age-old problem of rates. When talking they noted that- by swapping roles (PM, translator, client, agency, customer, etc.) - the solution hypotheses that had always seemed pointless suddenly appeared in a completely different light. In short, as is often the case, by bringing people and their points of view closer together, all problems become solvable.
May 2017
Problem and solution study
And so that confrontation, originating as a game, turned into a Research & Development project, with fixed appointments during which the team promoting the project began to delve into as much of the available data as possible - both online and in the experiential background of the various team members.
May 2019
Initial investment
Team che collabora su uno schermo
After about 2 years of Research & Development, that group of friends decided to found an innovative startup with a small starting capital with which to begin to give substance to the work done so far. A Business Plan is drawn up and a Web platform wireframe is created in which the hypothesized solutions can be implemented. Finally, this website is created with the aim of validating the ideas already developed and amplifying the brainstorming in the pre-development phase as much as possible.
October 2021
TranslatorSpace: crowdsourcing of ideas
TranslatorSpace is opened. An online space created by translators and for translators with the aim of promoting a crowdsourcing of ideas: sharing awareness to collect proposals to be transformed into solutions. Those who wish to do so can make their experience and creativity available to all, offering their contribution (not in terms of money, but of solutions, ideas, opinions, etc.) with the aim of obtaining future benefit for themselves and for the industry they belong to
...
Response processing
During this phase, the team members will examine every single contribution received, possibly exploring them in private with the respective authors, where necessary and possible (depending on whether the author chose to leave their email). The goal is to categorize the contributions into groups of solutions to be subjected to further online brainstorming phases (to be refined and/or honed) or directly implemented in the Web platform project.
...
Results publication
Publication of a new page on this site, which will reveal to all those who have participated in the crowdsourcing, the fruits of the previous phase’s labours.
...
Possible new online brainstorming
Depending on the degree of concreteness and completeness reached by the set of solutions proposed and developed, it could be useful, if not necessary, to go through a further phase of collective reflection, asking for industry feedback on the solutions found (in the form of votes, poll or other suitable method).
...
Responses implementation
If these efforts succeed in producing the desired results, all the solutions considered capable of solving the translators' industry problems will be implemented within a Web platform (or other similar environment) developed from the investments of the promoting team - so as to be able to produce the effects for which these solutions have been so painstakingly sought.
...
Platform opening
The end point to which we hope this long journey will lead us!
